About me

Hello!

My name is Lydia Maina, and I am the Lead Counselor with the Lalida Online Counseling Services. I will tell you a little bit about my education, my work history, and myself.

I hold a B.Ed Science degree from Egerton University, an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the United States International University ( USIU Kenya), and I am a certified Counselor Supervisor (KAPC & ARCAN-African Regional Capacity Network for HIV/AIDS Prevention Treatment and Care). I am a certified VCT counselor National AIDS/STI Control Programme ( NASCOP), and a member of the Kenya Counselors Association, the Kenya Universities Counselors Association ( KUCA), and RECAN.

I began my career as a secondary school biology teacher, and thereafter became a full time counseling psychologist. I have worked as a Students’ Counselor with the Kenya Methodist University, as well as in private practice. I have also worked as a part time lecturer with the Kenya Methodist University, and the Africa Nazarene University.

During the time I have practiced as a counselor, I have witnessed remarkable changes in people that I have worked with in counseling and in many instances their lives have been transformed too. I would like to state that my role has been that of a guide or a coach and the clients have been the real players. Successful outcomes are in my opinion largely determined by the client's input. Another significant observation I have made is that a client can only be helped to the extent that they open up. In both instances, it has been the client's courage and determination to change, together with the counselor's support that gets him or her to the next level.

I am here to help you manage your situation, I love working as a counselor and I am good at helping. Dont suffer in silence any longer. Talk to me online.
